July 1, 20214 yr I believe the source of my discomfort is captured within the black semi-square in the attached image. Apparently there is some inflammation, because the other side of my mouth does not have anything like this. At least nowhere near as prominent. I don't know exactly how this issue surfaced. It consistently hurts somewhat, and sometimes hurts a lot when I consume certain types of food. I've had it for about one week now. Cold water is soothing. Piece of ice cube feels good too. But I tried a popsicle earlier, and the pain was intense. What is this thing? What course of treatment do you recommend?
July 1, 20214 yr it's probably none of these things... you can book an appointment with an ENT (ears, nose, throat) specialist very easily or even just turn up to see one at just about any private hospital and probably pay about 1k+ for the consultation only. Better than trying to diagnose on here I would have thought.
July 1, 20214 yr I used to have this often, not anymore. I assumed it was herpes so I took acyclovir, then I started to have doubt since i got it every month or so. I tried all of these at the same time, something worked: Use bottled water not pattaya city water to brush my teeth. Use a mouth wash after brushing. I dont like Listerine , so I use Mybacin. Gargle with salt solution once or twice a day. Take Centrum multivitamins 3x a week. It makes me hungry so not everyday. Virus and bacteria can overcome your immune when you are under stress. Get enough sleep and enough exercise. Stop worrying things you cant control.

July 2, 20214 yr I can't tell anything by that photograph. Is there an actual lump or mass, or does it just feel raw?
July 2, 20214 yr It looks like a common mouth ulcer. Try dabbing it with Baking Soda 3 times a day. It will sting a bit but clean up any infection. If it persists see a dentist.

It's more of an inflammation. I can't tell whether or not it's an inflamed salivary gland. But whatever the correct term, it is far more prominent in the afflicted side of my mouth than in the other side. Yes, raw. That's a good word for it. Feels raw consistently. And then certain types of food ignite a significant level of pain. If I numb it with something really cold like ice water, then that helps me with the eating process. For whatever reason, when I tried to numb it with a sugary popsicle, I experienced my worst pain yet. I'm under age 40. No smoke, no alcohol. I take medicine daily which has a side effect of making my mouth very dry at night. I bring a bottle of water to bed, but I can't drink it if I'm asleep.

You might find buying a humidifier and using at night helps with the dry mouth, certainly helps me, I bought the Deerma F600 about 500 baht on Lazada
July 3, 20214 yr You can certainly gargle with baking soda, but if it persists you had best see a doctor.

July 4, 20214 yr If it's a mouth ulcer - then C20 mouthwash can help. Most chemists sell C20. - bright red mouthwash. I get mouth ulcers regularly, and this helps to clear them up in a day or two. But if doesn't have that sharp sting of a mouth ulcer - it could just be a Ranula cyst. A fluid filled bump that forms in the mouth due to blocked or damaged saliva glands. I get these now and then, and they clear up naturally, but one that was a nuisance - I had removed by surgery as an outpatient at a hospital..

Dabbing it directly seems like a good idea. baking soda !
