Embassy's vaccine joke angers expats

That is pretty bad.  Making a joke at a time like this.  Last night at the local casino I was cashing in a ticket at the cashier's cage and the lady said lower your mask.  I said no.  I just want hundreds instead of twentys which the automatic machine will give. I was cashing in exactly 200.  The big slovenly manager said, don't worry just hold your breath.  I was aghast at such insolence.  I got his name, his bosses name, etc.  It won't do any good but I sure will be firing off a letter with copies to his boss, the casino manager, all the way up the chain, along with online form one can submit.

Finding that pathetic offering unfunny doesn't mean you lack a sense of humour, perhaps just one a little above kindergarten level or from this century.

I'm sure the Ambassador himself doesn't do inane postings on Thai Facebook sites, and the poster who did will already have had a talking to about her lack of judgement concerning sensitive issues.

For those who have never previously heard of avocado toast it may be time to plan a refresher trip back into the world where you would find breakfast menus in much of the western world have dishes based around this.

I occasionally have it for breakfast here in Thailand.  Avacardo trees are an up and coming crop in rural areas.  We've planted a number of trees on our property and have found an eager market in Bangkok for fruit from a neighbors farm.

Very good..hopefully looking forward to cheaper Thai grown Avo's now!

the main thing that pisses me off about Aussies is they're always preaching .

every time they write to me they alway gotta get in that same old message to propagate.

Its alway  "mate"   this     and    "mate"  that.         Give it a brike,  will ya

OK - can someone deconstruct this "joke" and tell me whites funny. Maybe I've missed context or something. I don'yt find it particularly offensive, but only the media have said that presumably to get a story to fill space. but ll it says tome is that someone at the Embassy is one of those people who really doesn't understand humour and thinks somehow there is a joke.

Well.... I don't geddit! So if someone could explain or do we just agree the person who thought it was funny, and wrote it, is a humours moron

Some chinless, creepy, overpaid, underworked tax funded parasite needs firing for unprofessionalism. Given the lamentable treatment of Australians towards their overseas and expat communities, especially in India the public sector must be seen to be doing their utmost to help not make pathetic, adolescent jokes at the expense of vulnerable people from their protected, gilded safe surroundings.

Fine but that isn't a deconstruction of the joke.

The Embassy staff clearly have too much time on their hands. It would be better spent trying to secure vaccinations for its subjects.

They have

You have to have male and female avocado trees, where they cross pollinate to produce fruit. 2 male or two female trees will not produce fruit.

But what if the male tree self identifies as a female ????

Apparently confused and fluid gender trees don't cut it.

not offended at all , in fact I love it . it exactly reinforces what Ive already stated about the folks at the Australian embassy and the amount of help they render to the people they are supposed to be representing....couldn't have demonstrated it better if I tried ..... however I do profess to having a tinge of jealousy creep in when I see that our embassy staff have time to create this australiana nonsense and that is Im jealous of people from other countries who have an embassy that actually acts in their interests and assists them. Im jealous of the fact that their embassies actually understand what their mandate  is rather  than the scant disregard  the Australian embassy shows . So go for it Aussie embassy staff.. while many of us Aussies are trying to get vaccinated  and sort out issues ( none of which we can get help from you on) please continue making up jokes.....note to Australian government.... please consider shutting down the embassy returning all the staff back home and outsource consulate services.. you would save a great deal of money and no doubt the service would be better  (put another way it couldn't be worse)

I must admit to having put on a few kilos since  writing this.. a decent serve of humble pie I have had to digest  as it seems based on news yesterday that the Australian embassy is indeed arranging vaccinations for Aussies ... so my apologies Australian embassy .. if indeed this heralds a new era where you actually assist those whom you are supposed to serve then I will be your biggest fan .. lets have more of it

I just went and had a look at the Embassy posting and the Canberratimes article. The term "Offended" is not found in either. Plenty of forget the comedy and do your job type comments etc. So basically this post is somebody trolling with fake news.

Cheers

no need for humble pie - the arranged vaccinations were but a poor joke - that's should be what is making us Aussies angry, not some juvenile corny joke - what went over like a pregnant pole vaulter.  .
