Screen-cap from the Bus’s CCTV camera

The good Samaritans whipped round to raise more than VND4 million (US$170) for a woman who was about to give birth on the bus which was en route from Hoc Mon District to HCM City.

When she was taken to hospital, doctors confirmed that actually she was not pregnant.

This was a story shared by Huynh Thi Nhu Thuy, the bus driver’s wife residing in HCM City.

According to Thuy, the overweight woman signaled she was in distress and that was going into labour during the bus journey.

The passengers raised more than VND1 million (US$43) to help her get to hospital.

The bus driver chipped in an extra VND3 million (US$130) for the misfortunate woman.

After dropping her off at hospital, the bus driver asked health workers to keep him updated on the woman’s condition.

Later, after calling the hospital, the bus driver was told that the woman was not pregnant at all and she had made off with the generous donations.

Seems being fat or obese sometimes has its advantages!!!
