Volunteer rescue worker dies after crashing his vehicle into a tree in Mueang Chonburi

Chonburi – A thirty-eight-year-old driver who was a rescue worker volunteer has been pronounced dead at the scene after he crashed his personal sedan into a tree in Mueang Chonburi.

 

The Mueang Chonburi Police were notified of the accident yesterday (July 28th) on Sukhumvit Road in Nong Maidang.

 

The police, along with first responders, arrived at the scene to find the damaged sedan off the road on a footpath. A significant distance away from the damaged sedan first responders found the body of Mr. Chockarnon Jamsritaweesap, 38, who was a businessman and a rescue worker volunteer in his spare time.

Less than a kilometer from home , she said. He was in a rush to get home. But it seems the motobike rider was going the wrong way .  Nice folk the Thais but have very little road sense be it in cars or bikes.  Wet or dry.

As a rescue worker volunteer you'd think hes seen enough to know speed kills.

He obviously wasn't hanging around.

No. Thais often seem to do things to the max - driving as fast as they can no matter the conditions, playing music at distorted volume, extreme violence as in kicking in the head when someone is already helpless on the floor. Why that is, I have no idea. Possibly because for much of their life they feel so repressed by the rigid social ladder system that when they have their moment of 'freedom' they over-react.

Yeah, despite the apparently peaceful and demure wai culture, there's no real experience in fine tuning responses - it's either all or nothing.
