VocalNeal
Modern SkyActive engines run very high compression ratios, almost in diesel territory and they sometimes run with compression ignition. Ethanol has an octane rating of 110-ish. If the manual says 95 or higher than that is what you should use. bunnydrops
I have an 7 year old mitsu. The book said to use 91, which I did at first. Then I read that it was one of the cars that got better mileage on the E20 so I tried it. I felt that it run and accelerate better. I have used it ever since (6 years). I had been told I should run some 95 (91 no longer available in my area )every so often, but have never done so. Still running great.

If you say "benzene", they all know what you are referring to. I used to use it for my scooter as it performed better, but about 1 month ago, the only places (I knew of 2) I could buy it in Pattaya stopped selling it. But, it doesn't matter what the engine is, if it was designed to run on various fuels that the onboard ECU can deal with then I do not see your point. My fun ride had Nitrous Oxide as a power backup, if that was not set up properly it would destroy the engine, but as my system was set up properly with a 250hp backup, I never had a problem, same as multi fuel factory engines. Most taxis here run on LPG with engines that can deal with the stuff. I haven't read anything from you yet that reads remotely sensible on the subject.... 1

Use E85 only if car is explicitly specified for (check manual or ask dealer). It's not about damage but the motor control (ECU) has to be prepared for (longer injection time).
