It has already spread to Argentina, Chile, Ecuador as well as Texas and South Carolina. Edited August 8, 2021 by 3NUMBAS
Popular Post Denim
Well. If this grim possibility proves to come true I think I would rather be on the fringe of a small rural village surrounded by fields than a fancy apartment on Sukhumvit. Time to start gradually stocking my doomsday larder and getting some booze in. Edited August 8, 2021 by Denim 2

Wife has her nicely sloped 40 acres with an all year stream bordering one edge a road bordering another in the wilds of Issan. String up a bit of solar, battery, sneak in a Starlink system, and were good to go. Can always ferment rice (the right way) to make hooch.
Thunglom
There are various connections between climate change and the spread of zoonotic diseases..... ."As the planet heats up, animals big and small, on land and in the sea, are headed to the poles to get out of the heat. That means animals are coming into contact with other animals they normally wouldn’t, and that creates an opportunity for pathogens to get into new hosts. Many of the root causes of climate change also increase the risk of pandemics. Deforestation, which occurs mostly for agricultural purposes, is the largest cause of habitat loss worldwide. Loss of habitat forces animals to migrate and potentially contact other animals or people and share germs. Large livestock farms can also serve as a source for spillover of infections from animals to people. Less demand for animal meat and more sustainable animal husbandry could decrease emerging infectious disease risk and lower greenhouse gas emissions. We have many reasons to take climate action to improve our health and reducing risks for infectious disease emergence is one of them." - https://www.hsph.harvard.edu/c-change/subtopics/coronavirus-and-climate-change/

All those crazy scientists: "Modern society’s continued dependence on fossil fuels is warming the world at a pace that is unprecedented in the past 2,000 years — and its effects are already apparent as record droughts, wildfires and floods devastate communities worldwide — according to a landmark report from the United Nations on the state of climate science. The assessment from the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) says things are poised to get worse if greenhouse-gas emissions continue, and makes it clear that the future of the planet depends, in large part, on the choices that humanity makes today. “The evidence is everywhere: if we don’t act, the situation is going to get really bad,” says Xuebin Zhang, a climatologist at Environment Canada in Toronto, Ontario, and a coordinating lead author on the report, released on 9 August." https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-021-02179-
