Thailand’s Central Administrative Court asked to lift COVID-19 vaccine import restrictions

The Thai Mai Thon (Impatient Thais) political group lodged a petition with the Central Administrative Court today (Monday) asking it to hold an emergency hearing on COVID-19 vaccine procurement restrictions and to allow the private sector and local administration organizations to import alternative vaccines for use in Thailand.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) warned on Monday against travel to Israel, France, Thailand, Iceland and several other countries because of a rising number of COVID-19 cases in those nations.

Swiss tourist killer moved to Phuket Prison

PHUKET: Teerawat Thothip, the man facing murder and robbery causing death charges for the killing of 57-year-old Phuket Sandbox tourist Nicole Sauvain-Weisskopf, was moved to Phuket Prison late this afternoon (Aug 9) after the Phuket Provincial Court approved his further detention while police continue their investigation.

Thailand’s ‘modern trade’ confidence at lowest point in 3 years due to pandemic

Thailand’s “modern trade” confidence index in the second quarter of this year hit the lowest point in the past three years, at 45.3, as retail businesses are being hit hard by the pandemic and government measures, according to a joint press conference by The University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC) and the Board of Trade of Thailand yesterday (Monday).

Trawlerman saved by Thai Navy after spending 9 hours floating in the Gulf off Nakhon Sri Thammarat

Thailand's Royal Navy swung into action on Sunday night after they received a report that a fisherman aboard a trawler 28 kilometers off cape Talum Phuk in Nakhon Sri Thammarat had fallen into the sea.

Governor orders islandwide tourist safety campaign

PHUKET: Phuket Governor Narong Woonciew has confirmed that he will order every municipality on the island to identify isolated locales in their areas that may be unsafe for visitors and not suitable for tourists to visit as part of a campaign to ramp up tourist safety on the island.

Phuket ‘Covid Care Centers’ to be set up for asymptomatic patients

PHUKET: The Phuket Provincial Government will set up a “Covid Care Center” in each of Phuket’s three districts where people who have tested positive for COVID-19 only by a rapid antigen test but are showing no signs of infection will be required to stay.

Thai research body predicts a million jobless by year end if pandemic persists

Cargill and PTTGC to build $600 million biopolymer plant in Thailand

BANGKOK (Reuters) - U.S. agribusiness giant Cargill Inc and Thailand's PTT Global Chemical Pcl announced on Tuesday they will build a biopolymer production facility at a cost of more than $600 million in Thailand.
