In an advisory, PAL said the cancellation was due to the ash emissions from the Fukutoku-Okanoba volcano.

The canceled flights were:

PR 428 / 427 Manila - Tokyo (Narita) - Manila
PR 422 / 421 Manila-Tokyo (Haneda) - Manila
PR 412 / 411 Manila - Osaka (Kansai) - Manila
PR 438 / 437 Manila Nagoya - Manila

Affected passengers may rebook or refund their tickets. They can also convert the ticket cost to a travel voucher.

The Manila International Airport Authority said no other airline with canceled Japan flights is on its list as of 9 a.m. Monday.

The latest report is that the volcano produced the submarine explosion on 13 August.

The Japan Coast Guard made a flight observation that confirmed the height of the eruption column.

The spectacular white steam and gas plume rose to estimated 16 km (53,000 ft)! altitude and spread into an umbrella cloud. (PNA)
