Daily News reported on a drama at the Kaeng Krachan national park in Phetchaburi province after a forestry official on patrol collapsed.

Colleagues of the stricken man tried to help him after detecting a low pulse but his condition did not improve.

A helicopter was called in from the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment to airlift Alongkorn Lakrot, 49, out from a field at a police facility in the park.

The area is very inaccessible and it was felt that a helicopter was the only way to save the man.

Unfortunately he subsequently died.

An official said that Alongkorn had apparently had a heart attack brought on by a long trek in the hot weather through the park.
