Facebook and Google, both based in the United States, have launched three international subsea data cable projects to boost Indonesia's internet capacity with the rest of the Asia-Pacific area and North America since March.

The Echo, Bifrost, and Apricot subsea cables (SKKL) have a total length of 43,000 kilometres and are expected to be completed between 2023 and 2024, with landing stations in Manado, North Sulawesi, and Batam, Riau Islands.

Stakeholders told The Jakarta Post that the undersea cables would improve Indonesia's connectivity with the United States in particular, and that regulatory delays were the major danger to the project's completion.
