Believe what you want, act how you choose - let others do the same From the quoted link: Phra Maha Paiwan is recognized as a liberal monk who has criticized the SSC for attempting to monopolize religious teachings in Thailand and to repress the right of individuals to interpret by themselves. Nothing wrong with this - except it challenges the Status Quo. Always a good thing Buddhism is indeed an admirable belief system. However it deserves much better than the endemic corruption and hypocrisy of the Theravada hierarchy. Maybe the Sangha could consider attacking the everyday, ground level, HUMAN corruption of its ideals, rather than criticising efforts to make the belief system more accessible to the man-in-the-street......

Since he ain't, a "Dudley Doright who's a bit too close to the Dark Side" will have to suffice.

It is not power that corrupts but fear. Fear of losing power corrupts those who wield it and fear of the scourge of power corrupts those who are subject to it. Aung San Suu Kyi Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men, even when they exercise influence and not authority, still more when you superadd the tendency or the certainty of corruption by authority. There is no worse heresy than that the office sanctifies the holder of it. Lord Acton

This will go over well with the Thai people who could use a good laugh during these times. Bad manuever politically in my view. Almost everything they do seems like a bad idea actually. More than likely the Thais that take in their regular program weren't offended nor took it that serious. Harmless chuckles.

Admins do little other than warm the seats in their pristine offices. They're not to be approached. Students are scolded for bothering them. Teachers are scolded for making trouble. They must prepare for and attend their important meetings where charts are pointed at, buzzwords are thrown around, certificates of praise are handed out, then they all pose for a photo op. Yes, everything nicely ordered and controlled it seems, at least to them. Meanwhile, the kids are outside running absolutely amok. ????
