Bangkok, Thailand (September 2021): Aetna Health Insurance (Thailand) Public Company Limited, Thailand’s largest health insurer according to the Thai General Insurance Association, launches “Platinum+” - an enhanced version of its best-selling Platinum plan.

The enhanced plan provides greater hospitalization coverage, more coverage options, premium-lowering deductibles, and includes a complementary vHealth telemedicine service.

In addition to the features of the existing Platinum plan, the “Platinum+” plan will include:

  • Four optional, inpatient deductibles (THB 30k, 50k, 100k, or 200k) that will lower the cost of insurance premiums by up to 60%, without compromising on coverage levels;
  • Maximum benefit of THB 3m for an injury or sickness per disability plan to meet new requirements for Long Stay Visa holders; and
  • An optional, outpatient benefit of up to THB 1,500 per visit per day, affords a more flexible way of accessing primary care at affordable prices

Mr. Damian J. Delaney, Managing Director and CEO, Aetna Thailand said, “The Platinum plan is one of our best-selling plans to date as a nil deductible product designed for people who want access to comprehensive hospital care without having to worry about cost. The Platinum+ with deductible options is designed to further increase affordability and access to this premium product.”

The core Platinum plan also includes access to vHealth, Aetna’s award-winning, proprietary telemedicine service accessible from both iPhone and Android devices. As one of the few health insurers providing such a service in Thailand, we have witnessed demand doubling to over10,000 users in just three months, and has been especially valuable to members during the recent lockdown. The service offers access to locally-licensed doctors, unlimited 30-minute consultations in English or Thai, e-prescriptions and a free nationwide drug delivery service. .

Delaney added, “We’re seeing people becoming more health-conscious in the wake of the pandemic. Many of them have the misconception that top-quality health care is out of their reach. With the introduction of deductibles to our existing Platinum product, we can start to address this barrier to health insurance for younger generations in Thailand.”
