If nothing else there are some very interesting words on how these beasts actually work ???? 

 

Mid-power MPPTs are not particularly expensive now so I probably wouldn't build one.

 

Of course one could beef up the power electronics ...

Very interesting article. It all looks quite doable until, that is, you get to the 3D printer bit. Also I would caution against doing your own coding unless, of course, you have considerable experience. One wrong key press can cost hours to find and put right. Like Crossy says. It gives some good insight into how things work.
