German expat rescued in Pattaya after setting his own house on fire and inflicting self-harm

Banglamung–A German ex-pat has sustained several injuries after he reportedly set his own home on fire then proceeded to inflict self-harm on himself with a knife this afternoon in the Pattaya area (September 9th).

Controversial Deputy Agriculture Minister Thammanat Prompao has been dismissed from the cabinet, effective yesterday (Wednesday), but only announced today, amid an internal conflict between him, on one side, and Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anupong Paochinda on the other. Also dismissed from the cabinet is Deputy Labour Minister Narumon Pinyosinwat.

Phuket marks 211 new cases, deaths climb to 33

Thais flock to Hua Hin as lockdown eased, reopening to foreign tourists cautioned

More Thai people have been travelling to the coastal town of Hua Hin, in Prachuap Khiri Khan province, since the partial easing of COVID-19 restrictions. The proposed reopening to foreign arrivals next month, however, should be postponed, said Vice President of Thai Hotels Association Udom Srimahachota.

Bangkok, Chon Buri, Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan and Chiang Mai are set to reopen to foreign arrivals on October 1st, following the successful implementation of the first phase of the “sandbox” scheme in the southern provinces of Phuket, Krabi, Phang-nga and Surat Thani, Government Spokesman Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana said yesterday (Wednesday).

Parliament passes two-ballot electoral system by overwhelming majority

Charter amendment draft passes third reading

BANGKOK (NNT) - A joint sitting of Parliament has passed draft amendments to the constitution in their third reading, giving approval to the amendment of articles 83 and 91, which reinstate the dual ballot election system and the division of the House of Representatives into 400 constituent MPs and 100 party list MPs. The Parliamentary sitting on Friday September 10, 2021 was presided over by Speaker of the House Chuan Leekpai.

CCSA Maintains Curfew, Dark Red Zone Provinces

BANGKOK, Sept 10 (TNA) – The Center for Covid19 Situation Administration (CCSA) meeting on Friday decided to maintain the number of dark-red provinces of maximum and strict controlled zones at 29 and the current curfew hours from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. in those provinces until Sept 30 said CCSA spokesman, Taweesin Visanuyothin.
