What even is the purpose of these sandbox schemes? There's COVID in the sandbox and COVID outside of the sandbox. What exactly is being protected by putting people in them? When they open more in other cities this fact will be even more glaring.

Beginning in May 2021 wasn't Sinovac the main vaccine for 2 jabs in Phuket to create the 'sandbox'?

Now no longer effective without a booster vaccine such as AZ or Pfizer? Some published studies showed that Sinovac lost 50% efficacy every 40 days - and Wha Lah, more infections.

The stats seem to miss the most important point.

The claim is that about 80% of Phuket is double jabbed. That being the case, the one and only important stat is how many hospitalizations are there with severe symptoms? If very few, the vaccines are working and there is very little gained by restrictions. The island should be properly open. If there are still a lot of cases with severe symptoms, then there is a bigger vaccine problem.

That has been the case all over the world , count only the severe cases not everybody that has the virus , but those nr's wouldn't have been scary enough to lock down the whole world .

Until someone else on your flight tests positive and you get put into ASQ? Or you test positive and get put into ASQ.

other than that risk, sure, the tests are a nuisance but otherwise you can roam the island as you wish…subject to the same restrictions as locals, which aren’t that onerous and in a lot of ways, non existent.
