Popular Post Jonathan Fairfield
BANGKOK (NNT) - A government spokesman has stressed the government is now on the right track in solving economic issues, with the measures introduced expected to help yield higher GDP growth this year. The Government Spokesman Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana, announced that the government is now on the right track to solve economic issues, which has resulted in 2% growth overall in the first half of this year, and 7.5% growth in the second quarter, which is higher than other Asian countries such as Vietnam, Indonesia, and South Korea. Foreign direct investment in Thailand continues to grow, with 43.8% growth reported year-on-year in Q1, 2021 from investments amounting to 4.012 billion US dollars, while overall employment is showing signs of an increase, with the latest unemployment rate now reduced to 1.9% of the workforce, a figure lower than the highest recorded last year at 2.1%. The government now anticipates this year’s annual per-capita income to be 232,024 baht, appreciably higher than last year’s figure of 225,845.7 baht, and a reflection of ongoing economic recovery. The government spokesman said government measures have played a large part in the country’s economic recovery, from compensation measures to stimulation measures on domestic purchases, as well as cost of living price cut measures on utilities and tuition fees. The government has been assisting employers and workers affected by the pandemic, as well as providing financial assistance in terms of special loans and deferments to small businesses and the individuals. With effective disease control measures and improved vaccination uptake, and the reopening of some tourism areas such as Phuket and Samui to international tourists, Mr Thanakorn said Thailand’s economy is expected to rebound in GDP growth this year, and continue to grow further over the next year. -- © Copyright NNT 2021-09-19 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow ASEAN NOW on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates

Popular Post tomacht8
The government now anticipates this year’s annual per-capita income to be 232,024 baht. That's just a statistical average value that unfortunately doesn't say much. What the distribution looks like within the income pyramid would be much more telling. According to Credit Suisse's Global Wealth Report 2018, the richest 1 percent in Thailand controlled almost 67 percent of the country's wealth. The bottom 50 percent of Thais had a meager 1.7 percent of the country's wealth. Even before the outbreak of the coronavirus, Thailand was one of the most unequal societies in Southeast Asia. If the Gov’t is on right track, is relative. Edited September 19, 2021 by tomacht8 3
