Kwasaki
I'm not in the market anymore unless my truck gets written off. I would consider buying the Extender I like the outside look of it, I'd have to decide by looking inside as final decision.
Popular Post transam
The MG extender is a Chinese Maxus T70 pickup with an MG badge. Do a search on the Maxus T70, may have more long term info. I found it strange that the Maxus T70 was not on sale in LOS, only after the MG British "link" was bought. 2
Popular Post finnsk
In many decades Toyota and Isuzu have being the most reliable cars in daily use and the service costs, and sales price as a used car. Its hard to believe that the chinese should be able to match this, but only time can shows. At our little farm, we have an old diesel Isuzu around 1995 for the hard work, we use it as a heavy loaded small/big truck, we only check oil and water, then it runs day after day, year after year and the small mainteinance is on the level : hammer and chewing gum. I can hardly believe you can find many other cars, which are reliable like this. Another thing is design an comfort, here is a lot of other possibilities, some like the daughter and some like the mother and some take them both. I think it is a lottery to buy a new chinese brand, they must give a very very good offer, if I should buy a model like this you suggest.

I really don't understand why people make statements about Chinese stuff without checking it out. I remember when Japanese Nissan cars in UK used to rot along with every other brand, I was lucky I bought a Volvo. ???? 3

As you know, my beef is the use of MG performance history on a Chinese truck, well, it also goes for their non-performance cars too...????.

Popular Post seedy
I looked at them. But compare the price for an MG to an Isuzu with comparable equipment and it is a no brainer. D-Max 4 door starts at 686,000 THB And comparing an unknown Chinese made truck with a highly regarded, long established, truck only manufacturer is easy. 3

I was dissapointed to see stuffy old Thailand not getting the twin turbo version as I was with our 1•9 Isuzu. When I asked our Isuzu dealership can you order the Bi-turbo model for me, they said Isuzu don't have such a model. They were right in a way. ????
northsouthdevide
I read a very interesting thread on this site about a year ago, written by a guy whose job was to assemble, or maintain the production lines around the world. He stated, if my memory serves me well, that the MG design, and build quality, was exactly the same as the cars that roll off the lines of general motors factories in the US and Europe. Though I found his posts to be very informative, I have to say, it wasn't enough to turn my head from my Toyota hilux.

My Mum drove a Morrie Ocky and my Dad had a Cambridge. Both came with a starting handle and it was my job to get them going on frosty mornings. I can still smell the ether and feel the cold steel in my hands. Aahhh.....memories. 2

Popular Post stratocaster
A very quick calculation reveals a one year old MG extender depreciates by 22%. An Isuzu drops by 11% in its first year.
hotchilli
Toyota or Izuzu, both reliable and easily serviceable... which one is a personal choice. A good friend just bought an Izuzu, looks good, drives well.

malt25
Just my two bob's worth. Jap cars in Australia took some time to get established back in the 60's & 70's. Certainly not an overnight sensation. I think same with the "Chinese MG". "MIGHT" be a reasonable vehicle, but only time will tell. If I were buying today I'd be considering Mazda B50, Isuzu & the like.

I'd have to say those that buy MG are buying based on savings and not the best product. I do see more and more MG cars about. Me I try to buy quality. Would rather spend the xtra and get a true and proven product.

kwak250
I must admit Chinese products over the last few decades have been considered poorly made and will break easily. But things are changing just look at covid this has been around for years. Seriously though you cant go wrong with Toyota .
Russell17au
Isuzu is the oldest manufacturer of small diesel pick-ups. They have been rebadged for GMH (Holden Rodeo, Chevrolet) for years and their experience has come from the building of large diesel trucks. They only built diesel vehicles and never played with petrol family cars. I would not go past Isuzu for experience in the small diesels.

Well they've been out in Thailand since 2019, I had already bought my truck. I would of test drove the Extender before making any unfounded accusations. I like to hear from someone in Oz where the truck has a good reputation by all accounts. People here are very judgemental when it comes to Chinese components which makes me laugh I bet Toyota has Chinese made parts on there vehicles. Yeah I'm impressed with my new advanced diesel 1•9 Isuzu engine nothing like what Thai people and others were saying about it having not even test drove one. I believe the 2•0 Extender has a new GM engine.
