I am in Patong but with so much closed I guess I will have to go into Phuket Town - does anyone know where I can get some? I am currently using Proclear one-day multifocals just on nights out for reasons of vanity but appreciate that I may need to be flexible with manufacturer and type. Cheers. I was sandboxed over the summer and they mailed them to Pattaya for me, 2-day service, no extra charge. Best prices and seem to be genuinely helpful customer-oriented Thai people. On occasion I've gone directly to their offices to order. They always include some small freebie, like a bottle of eyedrops or some-such. Ahem.........not everyone lives in a country that has subsidized medicine. And some that do, might have to pay full cost, or wait years because it's elective surgery. I waited from june to february before i get this.And get refounf the travelexpencives.Thats how its here in norway.I get the surgery at a private clinic but the goverment paid it.So my costs for the surgery was only 60 pounds for both eyes. The only Top Charoen I've ever noticed was in JungCeylon - I popped in there last visit but the range was pathetic and the staff were clueless - and it's obviously closed now anyway. I'll have have a scoot around Patong but I guess I was lazy and just assumed if JC was closed then they would all be closed. Having said that, my dentist is fully open but my personal consultant is only doing two days a week. Buying online might be the answer - it's not like any shop is going to have mine in stock anyway. After years of conflicting advice (do it, don't do it) from doctors here in Thailand, I talked to an Australian eye-doctor in Perth. He told me that Lasik was designed mainly for children who had astigmatism (cornea uneven thickness) and should not be used to correct increasing lens hardening that happens due to aging. If you have Lasik, it'll work for a couple of years, but as the lens becomes even less flexible, you end up at the same point you were at before Lasik. There is only so much cornea that can be shaved by laser. Also, you don't fix the root cause of the problem, which is an increasingly inflexible lens. RLS removes the lens and replaces it with a plastic, multiple focus lens. Surgery takes about twenty minutes per eye (which are done on different days) with local anesthetic. Totally painless. I had mine done at Bangkok Hospital Phuket. It cost me 156k for both eyes. Last price I heard was around 180k, a few years back. Probably closer to 200k now. Yes, performed by Dr. Captain who was excellent. He is still there as I saw him a few months back. I still have 20/20 vision according to the test. No glasses for me ever again. I did Lasek (the one where they don't cut a flap) but I think it's based on a similar principle. Got it done at 23 or 24 so it's been about 6-7yrs at this point. Haven't noticed deterioration yet and hopefully won't see too much in the future. Still think it's the best money I've spent. Ordered and confirmed online last Friday morning, A bit of faffing around confirming my prescription and then a day later my address, but arrived on Wednesday. Regarding any kind of surgery - my cosmetic improvement funds have been swallowed up by my dentist!
