In the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone, the Lao Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare is collaborating with Bokeo Province to address the issue of illegal labor practices.

According to the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare's web page, authorities have begun collecting statistics on the number of local and migrant laborers residing in the economic zone, as well as analyzing their well-being.

Thousands of unauthorized migrant laborers living and working in the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Bokeo Province are in breach of labor rules and regulations, according to Mrs. Baikham Khatthiya, Minister of Labour and Social Welfare.

"Authorities have been unable to collect proper data on the true number of Lao and foreign laborers employed in the Golden Triangle SEZ to yet." Minister Baikham Khatthiya remarked, "Our ministry is now conducting a thorough examination into the number of undocumented and legal personnel."

Mrs. Baikham Khatthiya added, "We also want to gather data on labor contracts, as well as salary level, social welfare, and other sorts of social protection."

Labor registration will be undertaken across the country, according to Mrs. Baikham, to ensure that all local and migrant workers are included in the government's labor database.
