Five jailed for 'abusing democratic freedom' on Facebook

Five Can Tho residents were sentenced to varying jail terms Thursday after being found guilty of “abusing democratic freedoms” by posting false information on the Internet.

Truong Chau Huu Danh, 39, was sentenced to four years and six months in jail by the Thoi Lai District People’s Court in the southern city for abusing democratic freedoms to infringe upon the interests of the State, lawful rights and interests of organizations and/or citizens.

Nguyen Phuoc Trung Bao, Doan Kien Giang, Nguyen Thanh Nha and Le The Thang, aged 36-41, were sentenced to two-three years in jail each on the same charges.
