British Passport holder working without national Insurance number

Both of my kid's here on Sunday 7th.  I have applied for their NIs HMRC say up to 16 weeks due to covid 19. Obviously they must have working hard at home.  It used to be emergency tax until you get an NI number ?

They can work without a National Insurance number. When my daughter had her interview for her NI number she was told the employer can make a temprary number using date of birth and name initials. When your children get their numbers then the employer can link it to the temp. number.
