Speedo1968
I have visited, worked here, retired here for 27 years. I worked in farming so was always out and about. Where I live now has trees, grass, livestock, garden ( family owners since the day dot and they have just cut down a large area of ancient trees etc. to build a bungalow for family member ), In all my time in Thailand I have never seen this bird before. Unfortunately it flew in to a window was either stunned or killed and when I found it the ants had just appeared. It weighs only a few grams and I am guessing it is a male because of the colour. What bird is it please ?

kokesaat
I've seen this bird around the Udon area.....but only from the top of a highway walk-over. It overlooks a big TaKhop tree (https://puechkaset.com/ตะขบ/). The birds feed on the fruit that are near the top of the tree. They're easy to spot because of their color, but suspect they don't ground feed.

OP - thanks for the info, the tree looks like the one near my house where sparrows stay / nest
