Does anyone have experience of current processing times?

 

A friend's wife was told the standard 15 working days and they are now up to 18 working days.

 

 

I have not read of any mention of backlog delays?

15-18 days is pretty good IMO.

FLR, ILR and citizenship applications are taking around 6 months so this delay might be seeping into initial settlement visa applications.

This is a standard visitor visa application.

So when does an application for FLR have to be made, does it have to be 6 months before expiry?

No you can apply 28 days before completing the initial 30 months. You have to make sure that the applicant has completed 5 years in the UK for ILR so it just needs a little bit of forward planning.

Five calendar weeks (about 24 working days) and a friend is still waiting for a decision on his wife's standard visitor visa application.

 

Very uncomplicated, married 10 years and she previously had settled status in the UK.

 

An appalling service (or lack of IMO).......And this is work that can be done remotely.

The service from the Home Office is shocking, I know of people in the UK who have been waiting 2 years for a result on a citizenship application with no updates.
