Number of vaccine doses administered in Thailand exceeds 80 million

BANGKOK (NNT) - Thailand is on its ninth day of having officially opened up to international tourists. More than 80 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered, placing Thailand at the 18th spot among countries and territories with the highest number of doses administered.

Thailand stresses digital, sustainable economy at APEC Ministerial Meeting

BANGKOK (NNT) - Leaders from 21 APEC member countries are now participating in several meetings held as part of APEC 2021 Leaders’ Week hosted virtually by New Zealand. The Thai Minister of Commerce said Thailand had proposed guidelines on economic recovery in yesterday’s Ministerial Meeting, with a particular focus on digitalization and sustainability.

Pak Meng Dock in Trang to open for service during mobile Cabinet meeting next week

TRANG (NNT) - The prime minister will be leading Cabinet members to this year’s first mobile cabinet meeting in Trang and Krabi, on November 15 and 16. Pak Meng Dock in Trang is one of the sites included in the itinerary, and the prime minister will be inaugurating the commencement of services at the newly improved dock.

Engineers council proposes methods to solve flooding in Bangkok

BANGKOK (NNT) - The Council of Engineers of Thailand (COET) is proposing that relevant bodies quickly make improvements to the flood prevention infrastructure along the Chao Phraya River, and warned that there is a probability of Bangkok becoming submerged in 10 years if the water issue is not properly addressed.

Chula history professor says the university failed her after being sued for approving a thesis

Last Monday, Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha, at the United Nations Global Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow, Scotland told the assembled crowd that climate change is the “gravest challenge of our time” and highlighted that Thailand was one of the countries most vulnerable to its effects. According to the Global Climate Risk Index, Thailand ranks ninth globally in terms of countries affected by climate change-related extreme weather events.

Global Pension Index 2021: Dip in household savings sees slight decrease in Thailand’s overall index value

Thailand, November 9, 2021 – The overall index value for Thailand’s retirement system dipped slightly from 40.8 in  2020 to 40.6 in 2021, according to the 2021 Mercer CFA Institute Global Pension Index (MCGPI)1. Into its 13th edition,  the 2021 Global Pension Index measures 43 retirement income systems across the globe through three weighted sub-indices (adequacy, sustainability, and integrity) and includes four new systems – Iceland, Taiwan, UAE, and Uruguay.  Thailand is ranked 43rd in this year’s study, with the lowest index value globally.
