The new Chinese ambassador to Thailand paid a courtesy call on Thai PM Prayuth Chan-ocha in the Ivory Room at Government House yesterday, reported Naew Na.

Han Zhiqiang, who took up the post in August, came bearing gifts and promising to strengthen bilateral relations between the two Asian neighbors.

He had a donation of 1.5 million doses of vaccine - the Thai media did not specify what brand it was though previous donations have been Sinovac, notes ASEAN NOW.

Prayuth praised the ambassador for the excellent start he had made in his post and noted that with the ambassador's bountiful experience he would undoubtedly develop their relationship.

The donation also included medical supplies used in the supply of oxygen to Covid-19 patients.

Han promised continued assistance in the fight with the virus.

Among the other topics up for discussion was the much heralded Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) plan that is being fueled by Chinese investment along with other major infrastructure projects and plans.

Meanwhile, can't even be bothered to clear the paperwork for western countries wanting to donate quality vaccines.

Didn't they announce last month they were not going back to Sinovac?

Yet here we are....Groundhog Day. Please give us Chinese money and tourists.

I thought they stopped with Sinovac, but as usual.... everything changes by the hour.....

The only reason that the CCP are giving the doses away is because they know that they are not very good.

1.5 doses , isn't that about a spoonful ?

2nd rate vaccines donated to a 3rd rate government.

Long queues at Seer Rangsit this whole week for the Sinovac shot. None bounded in chain and ushered in by uniform personnel. Definitely not forced.

Pinocchio and Anutin at it again ... saying 1 thing then doing another.

Prayuth walking around with his hand out for more more more ...

When do these people have enough?  They've taken so much already during this pandemic and still want more.

Yes, they have a free choice between Sinovac or Sinovac. ????

They have another choice to opt out. Vaccination here not mandated. Again free to choose.

My father would say the opposite, If you can't give it away, try selling it-worked for him. But remember, everything free from China has a cost, a big cost.

And what do we call persons who abuse us (spread a virus), then bring us back to consciousness for a while, then abuse us then bring us around again?

China delenda est.

The Special Chinese Economic and Gambling Zone with casinos on the horizon????? (cf. Sihanoukville in Cambodia)

Coincides conveniently with the announcement earlier this week that China is interested in establishing full-blown offshore military bases in Thailand and Singapore. The little man has probably already said yes to them.

With a serious Delta situation in China and insufficient vaccine supply there, why don't they follow the example of India and keep the vaccine for their own people?

I had 2 doses of Sinovac.  Last one in July.  I have queued for Moderna at Bangkok hospital.  At my checkup yesterday my doctor told me I should go ahead and get both Moderna vacinations instead of just 1 as a third booster for the Sinovac.  He thinks by now I probably don't have many antibodies left in my body.  So best to just start over again.

For those saying Sinovac is worthless it just isn't true.  It is better than nothing.  However I read an article where they were discussing the different vaccines.  They said a good vacinne should give you more antibodies than actually catching the virus.  Sinovac does not do that.  AZ, Pfizer, and Moderna do.

What a shame.

Under the age of 60 and healthy most Thais don't have a choice.

It's Sinovac 1st and AZ 2nd..

Or nothing.

Yes, but a few weeks ago the Thai government said it was moving away from Sinovac and would start this month with an AZ/Pfizer combo instead.

But we know how the government loves to make proclamations that aren't always followed through.

Funny, the health minister could take all 1.5 million of the chinese gunk himself and he still could not travel where he wants to

Sinocr#p must have run out up our way, our village started doing the AZ/phizer jabs yesterday. Not restricted, anyone over 18 can rock up.

It must be Sinovac.
