Well at least we hope they will, and good luck to the museum with farang tourists visiting.......idiots !

"Idiots", who? Those who make the rules, or the ones who pay to come for a holiday, to a place like Thailand?

another pro-active measure to stimulate tourism.

Go through all hoops to gain entry to the country.

if you are sucessful in making  it, we just want to ensure you dont have any peace of mind while visiting any 'restaurants that can sell alcohol'!

another tvf winner. you know it's just one tiny little street don't you? and according to the OP it's being initiated by some random group calling themselves the KSR traders association and not the gubbers ????????

Last Friday and Saturday: twitch streamer "Bangkok_420" (not vaccinated, 6 buckets of alc. etc.) and numerous You Tubers reports live how they sell alcohol and drink from same straw. Approx. 4-6 thousand people don´t care about transmitting the virus. A Super Spreader Place. Party more important than transmissions to any "grand mum with a handicap"?  That´s the real situation.

Hope all the 'dirty farang' who have satisfied all the requirements to enter Thailand boycott KSR and spend their money elsewhere

"the traders' association at Khao San Road were adopting their own measures to fulfil the requirements of the latest Covid protocols called "Thai Stop Covid Plus". " So these people know better than the MOPH 5555 ????

Almost anyone nowadays that can read know more than the MOPH.. They can read also but seem to have blind spots when seeing something read that doesn't agree with their thinking.

Once again, destroying the domestic tourism market, which kept places alive the past 18 months, for the sake of int'l tourist, or lack of, which won't contribute much.  Who pays 100 baht for the privilege of walking on KSR, let along the risk of testing positive.

The opposite is the case: Last Friday 5000 visitors ???? street full. Check

 you tube streamers.

It isn't just Thailand. In Austria they have announced a lockdown for anyone not vaccinated and declared that this is the least of their measures. What is next sounds like it could be really scary.

Scary for some, more money in my pocket, if they think they have been doing it hard over the past with no tourists, then I would suggest any place trying to enforce this should be given the widest birth possible, simple really IMO.

More thinking based on ignorance and prejudice.  Who is more likely to be infected - a tourist who has been fully vaccinated with an effective, Swiss-approved vaccine AND tested repeatedly OR a native Thai who might have been vaccinated and likely never tested who probably encounters migrant workers who are neither vaccinated or tested?  Sadly, it is thinking like this that the public health strategy often seems to be based on.

Tourists are worried about catching COVID but not from other tourists.

Their chances are identical. The vaccines don't stop transmissions nor prevent infections -- no brand exempt. What is claimed they do -- by the pharmaceutical companies and the overseeing agencies alike -- is to reduce Covid-19 symptoms.

And so they should.

The general consensus appears to be that vaccinated people are less likely to transmit the virus due to lower viral loads.

So what kind of dubious ATK test kits are they using and how many false positives will there be? I expect they will get a nice commission from the private hospitals in the event anyone tests positive.

Yes, imagine getting a negative PCR test result flying from your country, a negative PCR test result in thailand test and go, a negative test on your 6-7 day test, and then a false positive on a cheap KSR test !

If foreigners have been vaccinated six months ago they will have to take a 100 baht swab test and wait.

An ambulance is on hand to take them away if they turn out to be positive.

How welcoming... run the gauntlet, or stay away from KSR

Last Wednesday, no one about to take my swab test, to visit a street where you could not even buy a coffee lol

That should raise the spirits of the government...........KSR being a reasonable indicator of number of 'poor' tourists coming to Thailand.

In  other words: Don`t go to khao san road!

                                                 There`s nothing exciting there anyway.

Waste of time, wast of (small) money.

                                                  Cheers!!

I am very sceptical of the news I read on this forum which is sometimes deliberate inflammatory to attract attention while missing out a few key details of balance.

I therefore have to ask the following questions of anyone who knows the facts:

- Is it ONLY Foreigners who are being tested (ATK) ?

- OR, is it anyone, Thai and Foreigners who are being test (ATK) ?

- IS it a government incentive ?

- IS it a local business incentive ? (to protect its workers)

Given the currently climate I do not think it is a bad think to request ‘random’ Antigen Testing in the aim of protecting everyone - but it needs to be handled very professionally:

i.e. Radom test anyone (Thai or Foreign) - If they test positive, take them home (for free) give them a confirmation PCR test for free, if they are positive ask them to remain at home for 10 days - give them a follow up test in 10 days.

OR, accept that vaccines are working with regards of vaccinated avoiding serious symptoms and continue the vaccine roll out and get on with life.

OR, if they are that worried, keep the area closed.
