I'm currently in Thailand and going to the U.S. next week for a 3-week visit and planning to apply for a Non-O evisa I'll use to return.

I'm concerned that the processing time might exceed the duration of my stay in the U.S. so I was wondering if I could mitigate that by applying while I'm still in Thailand instead of waiting until I've departed Thailand and arrived in the U.S.

It seems like this should be possible now that they've launched a stickerless evisa process but I don't know if it's allowed or if they actually check the applicant's entry and exit history and might deny the application if there is an entry record without a corresponding exit record.

I would be very interested in learning whether anyone else has successfully done this (obtained a stickerless Thai e-visa while still in Thailand).

Update:  On November 18th, I applied for a single entry Non-O visa while still in Thailand and it was approved by the Chicago consulate on November 23rd.  The approval email actually arrived a few hours after my departure from Thailand but I doubt that is something they checked.

Based on my experience, it appears that e-visa applications are being processed much faster now and that applying while still in Thailand is not a problem.
