If only an ATK is required that at least gets rid of the mandatory taxi and Hotel... now just the insurance scam to go

I believe the insurance scam will always be there in some form as long as the soldier posing as a PM is in office.

I would even go as far as saying that even after the country opens up completely, and there is a democracy elected government in, there will always be an insurance  required to enter Thailand which will make it very hard for an expat over 75 to return.

Then tourists and retirees will go somewhere else where they are not forced to pay for insurance. Simple

Yes that's right, but I am referring to expat retirees who go back to their own country for a holiday and then want to return to Thailand.

My only point from this is that countries shouldn't be able to decide whether insurance is made mandatory. If I didn't have a condo there I wouldn't care, I'd never go back with such a mandate. No-one likes being forced into something they don't need....scam alarm ????

Again, I (respectfully) disagree.

Ignoring Covid, any sovereign nation must be allowed to impose its own conditions of entry - it's up to we foreigners to decide if we wish to visit.

As an example look how Australia literally closed down for a year - IMO excessive, and unpalatable to those who might want to visit but Australia's choice. For my part I wish UK was more stringent thus avoiding freeloaders from certain countries...but that's :offtopic: here.

There is a monthly limit on free content on Bloomberg and then you get nagged to pay.

You didn't read what i said earlier in the thread...clear the cookies - that way the "monthly clock" is reset.  Or just open it in a different browser of course.

To 'build back better' you need the tools and know how ,Thailand has neither ,just a vague mission statement accompanied by no vision nor practical plans on how to achieve that. The delusion is thinking otherwise

History would indicate you are wrong. Maybe you are of the opinion they never "rebuilt better" following the financial crisis or the tsunami.

Quite, the EU require insurance for a tourist visa.

People are discouraged from coming. Because of schools going back in Australia there was a backlog of 70,000 tests to be done. So it is difficult to get into that 72 hour window for Australians coming to Thailand.

Airport | Histopath Diagnostic Specialists

Test for $79 is available at Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane airports as well as at community centres. You can make an appointment or just walk in.

Good for you. It is a problem for many others, especially from me who has decided to self insure their life and travel...don't need extra scam insurance

Honestly its only a problem for people who stay here all year long, not a problem for tourists that come here for a month or so and don't live in Thailand. That is a far larger market then expats that live and stay in Thailand.

Sure on this forum there is a lot of sound made by those who fall in those categories. I hate it too but for other reasons as I got an insurance that i pay by year and with elite visa you get a year stamp each time you enter. So that would mean you have to change insurance duration all the time.

My 73 year old dad has absolutely no problem getting a travel insurance at reasonable cost that covers covid. So the people they target have no problem getting insurance.
