Ms. Daomixay Pachansitti, Miss Grand Laos 2021, spiced up the national costume category in the Miss Grand International 2021 contest with a payapa salad-inspired outfit.

The 2021 Miss Grand International national costume competition, which was televised live to viewers across the world, featured fifty-nine ensembles in front of fans yesterday evening at Bangkok's Show DC Hall.

Pageant competitors' outfits were supposedly influenced by stories, folklore, festivals, and even delicacies from their own nations.

The public in Laos has praised and criticized the unusual appetizing choices, but there is no denying that it is both inventive and unique.

"Tammakhoung (Papaya Salad) is our national cuisine," said Saykeo Sittavong of Laos, who also created the outfit. It's sweet, sour, spicy, and salty, and it's the first thing that comes to mind when we think about Lao cuisine."

Thailand's puppetry troupe was inspired by the Ramayana legend, while Vietnam's contender was costumed as a blue angel to pay tribute to the country's frontline workers.

Cambodia wore a costume inspired by Angkor Wat, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

On October 25, Daomixay Pachansitti, a 23-year-old Laotian, was named the country's sixth Miss Grand Laos at the Le Thatluang D'oR Boutique Hotel in Vientiane Capital.
