Jerno
Define long stay tourists please. Isn't that really expat residents? And a beach party town...perfect place to be stuck in a hospital or condo recovering.

ChrisY1
To be a medical "hub" of anywhere...doctors are needed. Specialist medical care is quite difficult to get in the provinces....incomes in BKK far exceed these regions.....pay more and get the attention or languish with 1 or 2 days per month care, when these people can visit
Popular Post swm59nj
A medical hub? For certain conditions you are referred to a Bangkok hospital anyway. So it’s good as long as your specific condition is treatable in Hua Hin. 3

As half the town is still closed for business and putting off tourism I guess as the hospitals are open it might work.
TheScience
Are premium services available here? I wasn't aware of this in the least. Was surprised that even Phuket was trying this stunt. Serious medical? Go to Bangkok!
TheScience
International tourism is dead. Climate change and covidiots killed it. Pick up the pieces and move on Thailand.
JimmyGreaves
Don't forget to mention that 1 price for foreigners and a lower price for Thais in the small print! Edited December 11, 2021 by JimmyGreaves
KhunLA
"President of the Thai Spa Association and head of the Hua Hin Recharge scheme" I think he should stick to promoting R&R as HH certainly wouldn't be my pick for a medical hub. A bit lacking in services available. HH wouldn't even cross my mind for a hospital stay.

hansnl
Medical hub? The pricing nowadays in private hospitals makes medical tourism to Thailand less attractive. There are other countries offering the same for less. Greedy shareholders.........
Caldera
Seriously? They have a couple of half-decent hospitals on the main drag, and not much else. Hardly a hub!
Stargeezr
Well at least the air is better in Hua Hin, and patients who are not bed bound could enjoy some time in the outdoors. In Bangkok the pollution is usually bad enough that most days, staying indoors is necessary. So if Hua Hin wants to be a Hub, I would go there before staying in Bangkok. Donga
I don't think it will be too difficult to attract good medical professionals to live in Hua Hin. It already has a sizable farang community, with many golf courses and other reasonable services. New direct air routings next year and after will make it that much easier for people to visit. TropicalGuy
Sounds good but HH rather quiet & boring. No competition for Bangkok or Phuket as Med Hub. They also simply don’t yet have the equipment or doctors …….Initiative tie-in with new Med Longstay Visa …..

Fortean1
Yes, serious surgery and follow-on evaluation is done in Bangkok. My experience in Hua Hin with hospital of the same name was that evaluation as well as MRI was done at the Bangkok Hospital in Bangkok. My wife spent one day and night in the ICU and then off to Bangkok for carotid artery repair and later balloon angioplasty. Terry
