Visiting the New British Embassy

Featured Replies

When visiting the New British Embassy I read on the Gov website it says no bags or mobile phones allowed inside the Embassy. What do we do with our devices etc are there lockers available?

Also if attending an appointment to swear/sign an attestation etc, how long does the appointment last. I ask this to plan travel and flights in and out of Bangkok.

Previous appointments at the old embassy took quite a long time but hopefully a new streamline system is in place now.

If it's the same as the US Embassy...yes they take your stuff and put it into a secured bag/locker and give you a ticket. You retrieve it when you leav.

They have their own security setup in the lobby (it a commercial building), they did not take my bag but my phone was left with them, as I recall, the bag was xrayed.

Then one of their security people takes you to the elevator and then top with you to the waiting room. you sit there, there are 3 glass fronted booths in front of you. You get called up (I was the only person there when I went) and hand over the docs. Sit down again, get called for any questions and then get handed your doc. Security then escort you downstairs again.

I was the only person when I went and all in from arrival to leaving the building took about 15 minutes.
