No official agency is "peddling it as a tourist attraction" as far as I can see, some bloggers maybe, that's all.

The location is definitely being ‘peddled’ [the action of promoting an idea or view persistently or widely.] as a tourist attraction....   Google ‘Overlap Stone’.....

Official recognition in the TAT news anyone ??????

Peddling an "officially TAT recognised attraction"?   Hardly, it gets nine words in passing and none of them refer to it being an official tourist attraction!...

"Stop at the Overlap Stone for another nice viewpoint".

I'll keep the hat on, thanks, but perhaps you ought to reconsider your chosen headwear!

can imagine a scenario whereby the Thai guy demands payment, the russians refuse thinking he’s trying to scam them and an escalation occurs which involves the Thai guy pushing the woman, snatching her necklace, her pushing him away, him hitting her....etc.....

People who have lived here a while know that a Thai wouldn’t be “pushing” or “snatching” first. That would only happen after some significant escalation from the other side.

And people who have lived here a while also know how many fellow farangs like to behave, especially the tourists.

So when you’re on private property and consider the 50 Baht a “scam”, simply leave the private property without making a scene. Picking up a fight with a local isn’t a good idea.

Again, we can’t say for sure, we are all speculating. Just applying Occam's razor here.

Me and my friend took a <deleted> in a completely dark "jungle like" area in Pattaya, with no people nearby. About 200 meter away or so, was a pay toilet that we did not see until later, it was completely dark with no light, and no signs.

Two old witchlike creatures started shout at us in thai language, and throw rocks at us, and chased us with sticks. We never interacted at all with these hags. So you are wrong that there needs to be escalation.

Edit: They censored the word urination now, was a <deleted>ty site this is. <deleted> <deleted> <deleted> <deleted> <deleted>
