Hello everyone,

I applied for the covid extension last week at CM and got the visa under consideration stamp so I will have to go back next week. My passport is also almost full with just half a page left and will need to transfer to a new passport that I'm collecting at the South African embassy this week. Maybe Im just overthinking this but will there be any issues transferring a visa under consideration stamp to the new passport and then getting the remaining 45 days in the new passport? Or would they have issues stamping the remaining 45 days in my old passport after the embassy has cancelled the old passport or cut the corner of the passport (not sure what they do) and then transferring it all to the new passport. Something tells me I should rather go and collect my new passport after I get the remaining 45 days but at the same time I would like to get the 45 days and transfer the covid extension all in one trip to immigration if possible.

Any thoughts/recommendations are greatly appreciated!

Any visa or permission of stay stamps remain valid.

When you collect new pp your current one will have identity info strip cut off and something like front cover cut.

You will retain your old pp.

When you go for your final stamp they can transfer any visa information from old pp along with permit stamp etc.

Stamp similar to this pic will be placed in your pp.

You may receive letter along with new pp that will be provided to immigration..
