Pattaya – Pattaya City leaders continue to work on several major Old Town Naklua projects in order to develop local and domestic tourism, seafood markets, and cultural learning centers.

The Pattaya City Mayor Sontaya Kunplome told TPN media today, “The Old Town Naklua market is one of the main projects in the first phase of the ‘NEO Pattaya’ campaign as part of the EEC (Eastern Economic Corridor) larger projects. The project aims to develop local infrastructure to support Pattaya as the center of tourism for Eastern Thailand, specifically focused for this project on domestic tourism.”

“The goal is to keep the identity of the local fishing community as a traditional style and highlight to visitors classic and traditional Thai culture. Environmental management is a main concern of the Old Town Naklua project.” The mayor continued.

I love the smell of raw sewage in the morning...

Sadly yes..... the area of Naklua, when I was last there, where the canal arrives at the sea, stinks and is a dumping ground, water full of discarded rubbish. Many areas of old Naklua make even Pattaya look up market. If that is their idea of  traditional Thai culture, good luck to them.

Thought that smell was what occurs when Pattaya City leaders start opening their mouths before engaging brains

indeed .and looks pleasant when looking at such items floating near the beaches

This reminds me so much about comments made about Melbourne’s swimming beaches back in the seventies. It was said that you didn’t swim , you just went through the motions, sorry but very much an Aussie/ Pommy joke.
