Security guard claims he was beaten when he went for his back pay

Thai media Naew Na screamed "cruel company" in their headline as they reported on a Facebook post on a labor site called "Raeng Ngan Pheu Sangkhom".

It was claimed that a security guard who resigned from a company in early January went back on Tuesday to get back pay owed to him.

He was allegedly told to wait in a room. Then 7-8 men dressed in black came in and armed with weapons assaulted him repeatedly.

When they were satisfied with their "work" they told the former guard to wait for his money.

This was then cut by a further 5,000 due to several deductions.

The admin of the site said that police, an MP and lawyers had been contacted for their help.

But they suggested this was tough because the owner of the company is himself a lawyer with police and army connections.

Whether this is true or not remains to be seen.

Inevitably there was much comment from Thai netizens on the story after the post.

When a country is essentially lawless this sort of thing can happen.

There is a law for everyone in Thailand, but it depends on the "cut-of-your-cloth" as to which one applies to you.

An argument over 5k baht. From a company owner with likely millions of baht and a license plate on an European import worth 3-5 mil. The world's #1 inequality.

Here and in other places I often get into the "don't go for those lo-so beggars, you should associate with the educated, professional Thais" argument. Yet here's a prime example of why you shouldn't swing that other way either.

is a tabloid?  they wrote about this assault "Whether this true or not remains to be seen", sos why not to investigate in order to confirm or to overturn the story before publishing it?

All you need to flout the law.

Definition of a lawyer...     Something  so low   it can walk under a snakes belly while wearing a top hat.

I also heard  that scientists  are now using lawyers in their  laboratory experiments, as there are some things even a rat wont do.
