Thailand on Tuesday (February 15) reported 14,373 new COVID-19 cases, 11,551 recoveries and 27 additional deaths over the past 24 hours.

▶︎ Infections outside prisons: 14,177. Prisons: 196

▶︎ Recoveries: 11,551

Tuesday’s cases bring the total number of COVID-19 infections in Thailand to 2,622,60 with 22,489 deaths.

The news comes as local studies show that a third booster shot will better prevent death from Covid-19 than two doses, as vaccine effectiveness will drop over time, the government said on Monday.

“Out of the 26 Covid fatalities today, 53 per cent, or 14 people, were unvaccinated,” said Dr Apisamai Srirangsan, a spokeswoman for the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA).

Of course, here in Thailand, unlike, er, the rest of the World, Omicron remains a great danger:

The Omicron variant is responsible for 80% of infections and the rest caused by the Delta strain. "It would not be correct to conclude that Omicron is less severe," Dr Apisamai said.

(from a report in the newspaper that shall not be named).

Honestly, don't these people ever get out?

I am a tad confused as to why Thailands cases are completely different to other countries who had a serious spike with omicron.  What is really occurring?

As of tomorrow morning Masks in California become optional for stores, being out in the public, eating at restaurants and while visiting entertainment venues.

How many died with Delta and how many died with Omicron?

Its because they only really test people who come to hospital or test because they feel ill enough to want to seek medical attention and Omicron been very mild disease in most people they never seek medical attention. The Thai way of isolation puts people off testing as well I believe. Test positive, isolate, who's going to put food on the table and pay the rent?

I may not be the brightest person in the room but I am confused with the Thai covid reporting. I have been watch with interest the daily numbers and cannot work out where are the missing infected people.

Every day the numbers infected go up and the recoveries are less than the infected group so there is a short fall every day of upto 000's of people They have not all died., so what category do they fall into.

Still infected(after several weeks) Recovered and go on their way and not counted . Dead and not counted? Any mathematicians  or analysts out there who can throw light on the matter.
