I can see peoples concerns over their buddies, but its a bit like cyber worry isnt it?

but i suspect that the ones we worry about are reasonably well known to some of us and, take for example Redrus, I'm pretty sure he wouldn't just "<deleted> off cos he didn't like us."

On another forum, a lady friend of ours disappeared for over two months, no calls, no replies, no emails nothing. We were v. worried. Then one day she re-appeared and was very happy that some people cared. She was off line for ages due to other demands on her and lack of funds, and when she returned we were all v. happy.

When I was off-line for a while recently (due to internet problems) I was pleased that several Bedlam members contacted me and expressed concern. Also several welcomed me back. I found this very caring indeed. The ones who contacted me were worried to see if I was okay. What's wrong with that!?!

There are a few members who when 'missing' for a while, I checked on to see if they were okay. That's how we feel about our 'on-line' friends. Similar to 'real life' really, we care for each other. What's wrong with that!?!

Before I had a reliable connection to TV I didn't post much. I went away from Chiang Mai for initially a week and came back three months later. Half of the people I knew didn't even know I had gone away. The other half thought I had been away for only a couple of days doing a visa run. No one missed me, or even cared. Put my life into perspective as to how much anyone cared about me. I had been trekking across Laos and Vietnam, and down into Cambodia having a great time and no one even had the decency to wonder if I was alive let alone ok. Could have been worse I guess I may had slipped over in the shower and died of exposure before anyone noticed. Then eveyone on TV could have speculated that I was a drug addict with boyfriend problems who had been murdered by the police for not paying the necessary tea money after being caught with having a fake visa.

My sentiments exactly Crow Boy, you brought to light what people may assume is a nasty thread. I the same have travelled the globe and when one comes home to reality, nothing changes, maybe some people missed me...in the longterm only those closest to you matter. I do not doubt that people on here like and generally miss a person when they are gone, however sometimes people maybe to busy to hammer away on a keyboard and have to generally get on with their everyday lives, some people have to work or maybe taking care of loved ones.

I was not being pedantic or trying to pick on other posters, I just generally think that people are born to assume the worst, when hopefully me being an optimist and all, that there is a good and non life threatening reason that people do not post.

In my country people say :" Loin des yeux,loin du coeur" I think can be translated with : " Out of sight out of mind".

So better not expect to much from "the other people".
