My son has a Non-B Visa and one year permission to stay and is teaching in Thailand. On March 31st his teaching contract ends and he understands that his work permit and permission to stay will be cancelled on 31st March. He intends to apply for a one year permission to stay based on marriage and he already has 400,000+ baht in a Thai bank. Can he make his application before March 31st and is this dependent on a letter from his school confirming his leaving date?

He will need a letter from the school stating the date he will no longer be working for them. Then on or before that day he can apply for the one year extension based upon marriage after his current extension is canceled.
