Situation of Vietnamese in eastern Ukraine is 'stable': foreign ministry spokeswoman

The situation of around 100 Vietnamese nationals living in Donetsk and Lugansk is "fundamentally stable," Vietnamese foreign ministry spokeswoman Le Thi Thu Hang said Wednesday.

 

On Feb 21 Russian President Vladimir Putin recognized the two breakaway regions in eastern Ukraine, and ordered his army to launch a peacekeeping operation in the area.

 

The Vietnamese embassy in Ukraine is in regular contact with the Vietnamese community in the country, and has plans in place to safeguard Vietnamese citizens in case of necessity.
