Biden says the U.S. will NOT be sending Ukraine any missile that can hit Russia

President Joe Biden announced on Monday that the U.S. will not be giving Ukraine long-range missiles that can reach into Russia after Moscow warned that such a move would cross a red line.

Kyiv has repeatedly requested U.S. Multiple Launch Rocket Systems (MLRS) that can fire missiles hundreds of miles as it fights for control of its eastern Donbas region.

Last week, reports surfaced that the weapons could be part of the next package of aid, expected to be announced this week. Daily Mail

It gets confusing sometimes………..

White House Walks Back Biden Ruling Out Rockets for Ukraine

Clarifying comments from @POTUS  administration on #MLRS are more assuring. Ukraine will get new shipments of precision-guided missiles with longer ranges than Ukrainians have now, but not rockets that can strike deep into Russia.

Ukraine may soon get US long-range MLRS rocket system

The US government appears close to sending a long-range multiple-rocket system (MLRS) to Ukraine.

Russia sees such deliveries of heavy weapons as a provocative escalation.

President Volodymyr Zelensky and other Ukrainian officials have urged delivery of the MLRS to counter Russia's heavy bombardments in the eastern Donbas region.

From the above article:

Limiting Ukraine to the smaller rockets could be a way for the US to avoid escalating the conflict, while still significantly improving Ukraine's arsenal.

A senior US official quoted by the Washington Post said the White House was comfortable with giving Ukraine the MLRS, but would withhold the longest range weapons compatible with the system.

So what, just another "TV Defence Analyst". ☹️

My guess is the Russian Army is going to collapse in the next couple of weeks and the Orcs will slink off to their so called Motherland.

Sadly i don't think so.

I sure hope so, but seems like russia is gaining some momentum, plus the cracks are starting to show in EU.

It seems there is starting a appear some form of war fatique in Europe ,

and because of countries like Hungary, EU can't agree on the sanctions and had to make a compromise because of Hungary.

If EU are starting to crack, then it's very bad news for Ukraine.

If people really want to stop the war, they have to hurt financially in person as well.

As example.

Here in Denmark russia cut of the gas supply today, and the gasoline for cars are at the moment 17 kr pr liter (about 85 baht pr liter)

We expect it to go to 20 kr shortly (100 bath pr liter)

The polls are now starting to shift a bit and a larger part of people are now thinking gasoline are becoming to expensive.

That combined with a lot of other prices going through the roof, could change the opinion in the long run.

How long will people be willing to suffer financially to keep on supporting Ukraine?

3 months more?

6 months?

A year?

2 years?

Hopefully long enough, until it can put an end to this darn war or until the russians are so tired of Putin that they remove him from power.

Ukraine has identified more than 600 Russian war crime suspects and has started prosecuting around 80 of them

Iryna Venediktova is in the Hague where she has been meeting her counterpart from the International Criminal Court and other officials to discuss war crimes charges. The list of suspects includes "top military, politicians and propaganda agents of Russia", she told a news conference earlier. She added that Estonia, Latvia and Slovakia had decided to join an international investigation team in Ukraine.

source BBC

Currently in, the largest team of experts and investigators in the history of @IntlCrimCourt @KarimKhanQC is working, conducting an independent investigation. They gather evidence for the court directly at the scene of war crimes. There are also plans to create a field office.

The "suspects" all seem to be low hanging fruit so far, what about the ones who give the orders?

One step at a time  its still very early days and probably the first time ever that war crimes are already being tried in courts in such a short space of time.

The ones who give the orders are usually not the ones who get caught.

the clowns are still at it:

Kremlin says US "adds fuel to fire" by supplying weapons to Kyiv

"We believe that the United States is purposefully and diligently adding fuel to the fire," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on a regular conference call.

"Such supplies do not contribute to the Ukrainian leadership’s willingness to resume peace negotiations,” Peskov said.

Good update from Sky News today includes the latest from the front lines but also details on the new missiles systems that the US has on route to Ukraine now and a comparison to those used by the Russians. Apparently it will be a game changer for the Ukrainians.

Similar situation updates on Sievierodonetsk from the Kyiv Independent and the BBC

"Russians now control nearly 70% of Sievierodonetsk. The Ukrainian command opted in favor of an organized gradual retreat to Lysychansk, which is more convenient for defense, rather than holding the ground until the last man standing. The garrison has not been cut off supplies."

Defense reporter with The Kyiv Independent

Both sides are suffering heavy casualties and the Ukrainian command may decide a tactical retreat would better serve their medium-term interests.

"As soon as we can get more weapons, particularly those artillery weapons which are being shipped right now from the West, we can go to counter-offensive," Ukrainian former Defence Minister Andriy Zagorodnyuk told the BBC.

Britain planning to donate M270B1 MLRS to the Ukraine.

U.K. seeks U.S. approval to send rocket systems to Ukraine

"The United Kingdom is asking the U.S. to sign off on a plan to send advanced, medium-range rocket systems to Ukraine within a few weeks, according to a person familiar with the matter and a document outlining the proposal, a move that follows President Joe Biden’s announcement that he’s sending similar weapons.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson spoke with Biden about the transfer of the U.S.-made M270 Multiple Launch Rocket Systems on Wednesday morning, to be followed by a discussion between U.K. Foreign Secretary Liz Truss and Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Thursday morning, the person familiar with the schedule said. The U.S. must officially approve the move due to export regulations, though the Biden administration is near certain to give the green light."

$700 Million in Additional Security Assistance for Ukraine

"Today, June 1, the Department of Defense (DoD) announced the authorization of a Presidential Drawdown of security assistance valued at up to $700 million, tailored to meet critical Ukrainian needs for today’s fight. This authorization is the eleventh drawdown of equipment from DoD inventories for Ukraine since August 2021."

Germany stepping up...........

Germany to supply Ukraine with air defense and radar systems

Berlin will be delivering the IRIS-T SLM air defense system to Ukraine, which experts say is significant because it will offer the country modern high-range missiles that it urgently needs to protect its troops, cities and infrastructure against Russian airstrikes.

“It’s the most modern air defense system that Germany has. This will enable Ukraine to protect an entire city from Russian air raids,” Scholz told the German parliament.

However, Kyiv will likely still have to wait until the fall for the air defense system, as Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock told lawmakers that the delivery would take “months.”  ☹️  Politico
