A friend of mine has been told he will be losing his job within about 10 days.  He arrived in Thailand visa on arrival, and has been on a Non-immigrant "B" visa for almost a year.  He is searching for a new job, though without success so far.  Is there any way he can get an extension to remain in Thailand, without leaving the country ?  Sixty to 90 days would probably be enough for him to find a new job.  He is unmarried and too young for a Retirement Extension.  Thank you.

Does he currently have a Visa or an extension of stay?

If a Visa he can stay.

If an extension it will end on the day his job ends.

He will be given 7 days to leave.

I cannot think of any other legal option to stay without leaving the the country and returning with a Visa or a Vise Exmpt Entry.

There is no short stay extension he can apply for.

If his employer agreed to allow him to keep his extension valid for a short period of time he could stay that way. That would also mean delaying his work permit cancelation.
