Foreign minister Bui Thanh Son on Tuesday called on Russia to continue to keep humanitarian corridors open and ensure the safety of civilians, including Vietnamese, in Ukraine.

Son raised the issues in a phone call with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release.

He reiterated Vietnam's consistent stance that international disputes and disagreements should be resolved through peaceful means in compliance with the U.N. Charter and international law, especially the principle of respect for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of states.
