Daily News reported on a drama that played out in Photaram police jurisdiction in the central Thai province of Ratchaburi yesterday.

The police contacted several fire stations in the area after reports of a two story house on fire opposite the Soi Fah municipal offices.

The house belonging to 37 year old Soraphat who lived there alone was destroyed.

He had just got out of jail after serving time for drugs offences.

Neighbors said he'd already tried to burn his house down but they had stopped it.

On this occasion he had been successful then in what appeared to be a drug fueled, paranoid state he fled on his motorcycle.

It was soon apparent where he had gone - to his elder sister's place 400 meters away.

There he was brandishing a hoe and an Itoh knife smashing up three of her vehicles and the windows.

"I'm not afraid of you!" he shouted at police. "Shoot me for all I care".

Relatives came round to try and persuade him to give up. He didn't.

He then started a fire with plastic and shoes in an apparent attempt to burn down his sister's house.

A fire truck blasted this with water to put out the blaze.

The sister returned and tried and failed to calm her brother who, while distracted, was subdued with water from a hose as cops with antiriot sticks moved in.

He has been charged with attempted arson and criminal damage so he can be held.

He was also tested for drugs.

' Shoot me for all I care '.   Sounds like a reasonable request. Just out of jail for drug probs and fires likely caused by drug probs.

Attempted arson , is it attempted if it is your own house ? Silly <deleted> should have been inside it at the time.

A surprising story.

At 37 years old I expected him to be still living with his mother.
