Local Somtam female vendor killed, husband seriously injured in hit-and-run accident in Pattaya area

Pattaya, Chonburi – A female Somtam vendor was killed instantly while her husband was seriously injured after being involved in a hit and run by a sedan in the Banglamung area during the early hours of this morning, March 27th.

 

Pattaya City police arrived at the scene at 3:00 AM. this morning after being notified of the road accident.

 

Upon arrival, a motorcycle food stall was discovered lying on the road. Food ingredients for selling Somtam were scattered across the roadway.

3am one wonders if the driver was DUI or asleep, and why the somtam seller was on the road at that hour?

There used to be a market for food well into the late hours, for example those food loving beer bar girls who, as usual did not get barfined, on their way home. This is sad, a working couple, scratching a living, lives ended and ruined by what was probably a reckless drunk, selfish, driver.

Markets in our area open at 4am, maybe they were on their way to setup for work.

Another drunk driver fleeing rather than face the music.  We await Pattaya Plod's viewing of their CCTV cameras.

When it is so easy to do, punishments are so inadequate, and maybe you have connections and more money than the victims, why not?

Not condoning DUI or leaving the scene, but was there any rear lights on M/C or especially the sidecar, I rarely see any lights on sidecars front or back, not even something vaguely reflective.

Probably another super hard working couple working 15 hours or more a day to make an existence to do their best to take care of their kids! RIP poor folks ????????

If they were parked and doing business the motorcycle lights wouldn't be switched on they would be visible by the local lighting
