The Land Department has revoked 59 “nor sor 3 kor” land ownership certificates, covering 337.76 hectares in the Chom Bueng district of Thailand’s central province of Ratchaburi, issued to Somporn Juangroongruangkit, mother of Progressive Movement leader Thanathorn.

The order to revoke the certificates was issued yesterday (Tuesday) by a deputy director-general of the Land Department on the grounds that the official documents were issued illegally and the land involved is located in permanent forest, where land ownership certificates cannot be issued.

The land in question is on the left side of the Pachi River, which was incorporated into the national forest reserves in 1984.

If it is national forest the title should be revoked, just as all Nor sor 3 kor titles should be revoked.  No private use allowed.  All animals on this land are fair game - chickens, cows, the lot.  No new buildings, permanent or temporary, and existing buildings are free for all to use.  No compensation but all who benefitted from such titles must do public penance.

How can that be??? official illegally

Because when she bought the land in 1978 it was legal to do so. However the government of the day changed to land ownership, but obviously didn't inform the landowners as they should have done.

IMHO the fault lies with the government of the day in 1984, the local authorities and the forestry department.

This is nothing but blatant intimidation of Thanathorn and his political career by a government who are scraping the bottom of all the barrels to try and find dirt on anybody who is opposing them at the coming election next year.

Thanathorn himself cannot be blamed for this directly as he was only born on 25 November 1978, but his Mum and anybody else are fair game.

It doesn't pay to be popular with the masses.

I  see this as the second [first] of many attempts to blacken his name.

It is because they know that they cannot win fairly and they are terrified of what will happen when they lose.

Thaksin's daughter will be the next target.

The yellow shirts and the ultra-royalists will be happy with this move.

The problem is that they cannot see the immense damage that they are doing to Thailand and the Thai people.

I so wish that Mr Thanathorn would be the new PM ...... That is the man we need, not the Thaksin clan and not the people who are now in power......Let a new wind blow over the country

Would be nice, however my thought is they emasculate and financially ruin them or tie them in courts.

Also with a rigged senate for life.

They won't target her because they won't need to. The EC will dissolve Pheu Thai at the last minute (so they won't have time to register a replacement party) or after the next election, because of her father. He won't shut up and what he said in public a few days ago shows that he still pulls many, if not all, the strings of the Pheu Thai party, which is not allowed and is actually legislated to that effect.

There is only one party I would consider voting for in the next election and it is Move Forward. As for Pheu Thai, as long as Thaksin is in the picture, I just couldn't vote for them.

As to the land issue of this thread, they are picking at straws in a poor attempt at getting Thanathorn out of the picture.
