Judging from the picture the truck driver didn't have a chance there, it must have been a very high speed collusion to cause that much damage and take the lives of two people, i wonder though, why it took 2 km to stop the CRV?...

Very cool headed of the passenger of the CRV to keep the car under control. It must been a very traumatic experience for her.

But not able to reach the ignition key, knock it out of gear or pull the handbrake.

Otherwise good work.

You're very quick to criticize her actions when you don't know if the lady was even a driver!

She managed to steer it for 2 kilometres.. lucky for her she didn't kill anyone else.

I wasn't criticising her just saying there were better options.

Yes there were better options and If she'd been an experienced driver then she would have known how to set the hand brake move the shift to neutral. But it seems that she wasn't, or maybe in a panicked state and couldn't think straight.

I asked my wife to set the handbrake on her daughter's car a couple of weeks back. She didn't know where it was and she DOES have a license!

This accident took place on a dual carriageway so it is unlikely that this was a head on collision. I suspect that the truck was shunted from the rear by the CRV and swerved off the road into the tree.

The truck has no underride guard so it's probable that the CRV went under the tailgate, killing the driver, but was able to keep rolling because its underpinnings were still intact. The two ladies inside were very lucky. It must have been a terrifying ordeal.
