Well done the owner of the blue pills. For seven years I had nine dogs living next door to me. At first, they used to just let them wander about and they practically lived just outside my front gate. Then they decided to fix the garden wall after which the dogs were shut in, that's when the noise problems started. Because the animals were getting no exercise, they barked incessantly day and night. I never complained because I wanted to live in peace with the neighbours, who were Thai.

Fortunately, they moved away a few weeks back taking the animals with them and the new owner is a farang who only has two dogs. Still one too many in my opinion.

Why anyone wants to own more than one of the noisy beggars is beyond me.

If you put substances that are poisonous to dogs on your land and a neighbours dog trespasses on said land then steals your substance , would that be classed as poisoning the dog ?

The dogs in our village howl at night which is disturbing, but they also urinate and defecate in the grassy areas in the village.  That is hardly something that neighbors should have to put up with. 

Thailand needs a pet nuisance ordinance, where people who routinely let their animals roam are automatically fined for not properly caring for their pet.  It is also improper behavior to subject the pet to becoming attacked by other animals or struck by motor vehicles.  

A quick trip down any Thai street shows you that stray dogs are a problem and whether family pets or ferral animals they are a nuisance and present a hazzard to drivers. 

I make a monthly contribution to a local organization that captures and neuters stray Soi Dogs/cats as well as vaccinating and helping with adoption.

If they can't breed eventually the problem will be solved. But, as you say, the real problem is the humans.

Can't neuter or poison them; it's illegal.

I wonder if she is getting the message.   It is a nasty business poisoning dogs, but sometimes that's the only way you can deal with them when the owner is irresponsible and the dogs are harassing people, killing chickens and otherwise misbehaving.  I have never understood anybody needing ten dogs -- or even three.

I mention this more than once dogs free on the street are dangerous, it makes no difference they are stray dogs or belong to somebody, every day when I cycle I have to change my route so as not to run into dogs.

To deter them I use vinegar, but it is still dangerous to avoid them on the bike.

When you fall and the bad luck that a car hits you, the owner is nowhere to be seen.

Unlikely.  Much more likely that the dog owner had a ridiculous number of dogs and the owner did not keep them contained.  Like the guy who lives here:

No stmpathy, let your animals roam and foul other peoples gardens, then tough <deleted>! The more poisoned the better. Thailand has over the last few years put a value on these rabid filthy vermin almost over the lives of people - there needs to be a huge cull on these filthy creatures. Anyone that has the pleasure of being attacked by a pack of these rabid curs while walking or out on their bikes will know what I mean - and if your home becomes another "Pet's" toilet for your neighbours animals will probably appreciate their demise.

You need to up your contribution.  From all appearances their genitals are working faster than the vet who is neutering them.

I love animals particularly dogs and have always had at least one dog and as many as 3 at one time.  However, anyone who thinks it is not cruel to cage and animal all day or let them fend for themselves on the streets of Thailand is certainly inflicting a different kind of cruelty. 

The stray animals should be rounded up and either adopted out or euthanized.  That is for the both the betterment of the animal and for the safety of the public. 

I can't count the number of close misses I have had as dogs take over the streets.  My GF hit one on her bike and has had numerous encounters where they chase her on the bike as she motors by.  I see where the dogs become a nuisance in eating establishments begging for food from the customers and in one instance a pack of dogs viciously attacked another. 

Do the world and the animals a favor.  They are your companion and treat them accordingly not caged all day.  If you can't properly excercise and socialize with your animals, then don't have them.

Since when have they been a nation of dog lovers? They simply tolerate them as a Ghost warning device, they treat animals terribly, but I have to be honest, and say that the more Thai dogs destroyed the better. A few years back there was a discussion about removing a lot of feral dogs from the beach areas in Thailand, I offered my services to shoot as many as possible, but no one from the government took me up - in fact it could have been an interesting proposition for revenue in the post Covid situation, High End Tourists Invited to Shoot mangy stray dogs, maybe getting a discount on the Elite card......every hundred mingers carcasses gets you a 100K discount. Cats at 50%.
