Looks like C.M is the INN Place

Chiang Mai Hotel Building Boom...... :D

“Conrad joins the race in Chiangmai” wrote ‘Travel Trade Gazette’, announcing that the upmarket brand would open a US$17.5 million 80 room resort in January 2006. The unnamed site has a natural hot water spring which will be an integral part of the spa, the focal point of the whole development.

Of the other 9 hotel and resort developments in the province, ‘TTG’ detailed the following 5:

Meritus Hotels and Resorts is said to be close to finalising plans for an 80 room development on a riverside site along Changklan Road. Construction of what is likely be called the Meritus Pavilion Spa Resort is scheduled to start in May.

Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts, with a 60 room development close to the Four Seasons, Mae Rim. Work is expected to start on the low-rise development later this year. Final approval has been given for Shangri-La to proceed with a 250 room development, rumoured to be the part-finished multi-storey site at the end of Loi Kroh Road in the Night Bazaar. An opening date of early 2006 is envisaged.

The Mandarin Oriental Dhara Dhevi, only 1km north of the Superhighway on the Borsang road, will be fully operational with 64 rooms later this year and an additional 78 due to be completed in May next year.

About the same time, General Hotel Management will put the Chedi name on the new 86 room riverside property under construction at the end of Sidornchai Road next to the old British Consulate.

But Dusit Hotels & Resorts is keeping quiet about the name of its new acquisition, the 160 room former Chiang Inn at the Night Bazaar, now closed for massive renovation.

meanwhile...

Work proceeds fast on the big extension to the Airport terminal building, but how far will the runway run? :o

and...

The Municipality will launch the new fleet of air-con 40 seater buses in August :D

then..its......

BIGGER,BIGGER and BETTER TOO!

Five years from now, Chiangmai will be 5 times bigger.

Chiangmai will change and everyone will admit it. That is Prime Minister Taksin’s stated mission, writes Rachamanka.

The government it seems has allocated lots of money to many projects here - which are improving Chiangmai in many ways. And fast!

This has become a city of life and prosperity.

Chiangmai province is 20,107,057 square kilometers in area with 22 amphurs, 2 sub-amphurs, 20 tambons and 18,022 villages.

One can see the big new Night Safari Zoo, International Conference Centre, World Garden Project, International Airport and of course the improved transport systems.(new buses)

The new urban rail system (see News), the new Chiangmai-Lamphun roads, the 30km route 108 development project between Jomtong and Hod, the western ring road between Hang Dong and the Chiangmai University area, the Irrigation Canal Road dual carriageway improvement.

All very attractive indeed for private investors! :D

(with thanks GMCM)
