The deputy premier added that the party’s nomination process is private and must be kept internal unless directed otherwise by party executives. Concerning Gen Prayut’s tenure as prime minister, which is limited to a maximum of eight years under the 2017 Constitution, Gen Prawit said more information on the subject will be made available to the public as soon as it is deemed appropriate. He also asked the public and the media to give the government time to work on pressing issues such as the COVID-19 situation and the well-being of the Thai people before delving into less important issues. Sydebolle
Is it possible that the big wigs in funny clothes running the show since May 2014 simply forgot to rewrite the constitution to fit their ambitions which resulted in capping the PM's tenure to a combined eight years? Or did Prawatch forget to wind up the borrowed wrist watches or set the alarms on the latter? One never knows in this country ........... you're welcome! mtls2005
D'oh. Of course, who else is there? The pm hasn't exactly encouraged any PPRP successors. He needs to full limelight and adoration. I'm pretty sure this is THE plan.

The 2017 Constitution speaks of * " ... whether or not holding consecutive term." They can argue that the tenure from 2014-2019 was not a "term" but served solely via a proclamation of royal appointment as published in the Government Gazette. * This translation has been prepared by Legal Opinion and Translation Section, Foreign Law Division for information purpose only Edited April 28, 2022 by jerrymahoney
