Haematoma on dogs ear.

Featured Replies

My dog has developed a haematoma on his ear. We took him to the vet a couple of weeks ago and the haematoma was drained of blood, but now it's come back again. Has anyone else had this problem with their dog and how did they treat it successfully?

it's a bit of a mess situation, unfortunately.

I had the same a few years back and it was big, mostly blocking his ears.. I left it alone for a bit to see if it would go away and it didn't.

the problem with leaving it alone is it will make the dog scratch at it or shake his ears which usually furthers the little damage that caused it.

so I ended up doing surgery where they practically made a few say vertical cuts and sewed it all together..

I don't remember it being exceedingly expensive, around 5k (I think) but it was certainly ugly afterwards and his ear was much thicker as a result.
